How can I make the app run faster on my old device?

While the app should be smooth 100% of the time on first generation iPhones, first generation iPod Touches and iPhone 3G during normal use, it will feel slower when in Transmission mode (as two audio streams are being calculated instead of just one) or if you left your device on for a few weeks without rebooting. To speed the app up, try one of the following...

  • Reboot your device
  • Go to Settings->General->Home->Search Results and untick all search results accept 'Applications'
  • Go to Safari, close all windows, exit Safari, return to Safari and exit Safari (this will free up memory)
  • Try using .m4as files instead of mp3s (mp3s are very slow to decode)
  • Try using .wav files instead of .mp3/.m4a (this will give you the largest speed increase!).
I can't hear the audio, what should I do?
  • Check that your headphone mode is set to the correct channel.
  • Check that your crossfader, volume sliders and gains knobs are in the correct positions.
  • (iPhone 3G users)If you've tapped 'Go To Cue' many times, while the CPU was under strain, a very rare bug may have occurred where the track's audio goes missing. Simply reload the track.
Cue Play DJ crashes when I try to transfer files. What should I do?

Your router is probably incompatible with automatic network discovery. Please go to the options screen and change the setting 'Network Discovery' from 'Automatic' to 'Manual'.

When I hit 'Go To Cue' there's a millisecond of silence before the audio.

You're probably a PC user, using an MP3 with a low bit rate. Delete the low bitrate track from Cue Play SetList and re-encode with either a higher bitrate or convert to an .m4a file. In the next version of Cue Play SetList, these files will be converted automatically for Vista and Windows 7 users.

Information on how to re-encoding tracks will be added here soon.

When I use the loop button, it slowly drifts out of sync with the other track.

Either your BPM data is incorrect and therefore the loop length is being miscalculated or you're possibly using a low bit rate MP3 (like the problem above, this is for Windows users only), please convert problematic files to a higher bit rate or convert to .m4a format and reload from SetList. If the problem is with the BPM data itself, you can change this by visiting the BPM screen of a track on the BPM screen, accessible from the Load Screen.

Cue Play SetList Mac OSX FAQ

When I drag my tracks into SetList, the track and artist names are missing.

Audio tracks have something called an ID3 tag. This tag contains all the information for the track; name, genre, album etc. Your file is probably missing this ID3 tag information. Please add the file to iTunes where you can edit these values in the inforamtion panel.

When I click on 'Update Device' I receive a 'Socket Error' message.

Please reset your router. This fixes almost all socket problems.

How do I create an AdHoc network in Mac OSX
  • Step 1. Choose 'Create Network' from the AirPort status icon in the menu bar at the top of the screen. If the icon isn’t in the menu bar, choose Apple > System Preferences, and then click Network. Click AirPort and select the “Show AirPort status in menu bar” checkbox.
  • Step 2. Give the network a name and select a channel from the pop-up menu. The default channel is 11, but we recommend 9.
  • Step 3. You don't need to have a password, but if you're planning to have this network set up for more than a few minutes, we recommend using one. Select the Require Password checkbox to protect your network with a password. Type the password users will need to enter in order to join your network. Do the following:
  • Step 4. Go to the Settings on your iPhone/iPod and choose 'WiFi'. Make sure your WiFi network is switched ON and then select the name of your newly created AdHoc network from the list below. Enter password if necessary.
  • Step 5. Click on the blue arrow icon next to the network name and wait for the information to be auto-filled out in the boxes below. (You may wish to make a note of the I.P. address for later use)
  • Step 6. Quit Settings and restart Cue Play DJ.

  • Step 1. Quit Cue Play DJ.
  • Step 2. Go to your iPhone/iPod's Setting.
  • Step 3. Tap on WiFi.
  • Step 4. Tap on the blue arrow next to your WiFi network's name.
  • Step 5. Make a note of this IP address.
  • Step 6. Restart Cue Play DJ and try to use this IP address (it may differ from the one that was auto-detected by Cue Play DJ).

Try this with both manual and AdHoc networks.

I've tried everything above!

If you've exhausted all of the above, then there's either a network setting on your computer or quite possibly a NAT or firewall setting on your router that is causing incompatibility. Sadly, with the 1000s of different routers available and bizarre networks settings that some people may have, we are unable to help you in this step. Please read your computer/router's manual or contact the manufacturer.

Halfway through a big transfer I receive a 'Socket Error' message.

Your device has lost its WiFi connection to the router. Quit Cue Play DJ, wait for a moment until the WiFi symbol appears in the top left corner and then restart the app. You should now be able to continue your transfer from where you left off.

What are the '!' icons?

Some mp3s (especially ones with bitrates less then 192kbs) may have a millisecond of silence when the Go To Cue is tapped. Most people won't notice, but I do! Anyway, these tracks are marked with an '!' icon. If you're an audiophile and wish to remove this millisecond of silence, please re-enocde the track to either a higher bitrate or as an .m4a file.
